Hide profile takes you off Inner Circle without deleting anything. While you are hidden, members cannot see you or contact you, and you cannot browse. Invisible mode keeps you on the app and only stops you showing as Online or Nearby, so members can still find you and write to you. Invisible mode needs Full Membership, and you will find both settings under Preferences.
What Hide profile does
Hide profile is a pause button for your whole account.
Inner Circle describes it as a way to take a break without deleting. Nobody can see your profile or reach you while it is on, and you cannot look through other members either. Because nothing is deleted, your profile is waiting for you when you switch it off.
What Invisible mode does
Invisible mode is much lighter. You stay on the app, and members can still find your profile and message you. What goes away is your status. You no longer show as Online, and you no longer show as Nearby.
So Invisible mode is not a break at all. It is privacy about when you are on the app and where you are, while you keep dating as normal.
It is only available with Full Membership.
What neither setting changes
Both settings control who can find you. Neither one changes what a woman sees when she does.
Hiding decides whether you can be found at all. Invisible mode decides whether your status shows. Your photos and your bio stay exactly the same under either one, and they are what decides whether a woman who comes across you wants to talk. That is worth remembering before you pick a setting, because some men reach for privacy options when the real problem is the page itself.
Which one you actually want
Pick by what you are trying to stop.
If you want no new people for a while, use Hide profile. You have met someone and want to see where it goes. You are travelling for a month and will not be dating while you are gone. Work has swallowed your evenings and you would not answer anyone anyway. In each case, a woman who found you would be writing to a man who is not there.
If you want to keep dating but not advertise your habits, use Invisible mode. Maybe you open the app late at night and would rather that did not show. Maybe you do not want to appear as Nearby around your office or your home. You are still available. You are just quieter about it.
Hiding does not stop the payments
This catches people out. Inner Circle is clear that if you have a paid subscription, it continues while your profile is hidden unless you cancel it.
So if you plan a long break, deal with the membership as its own step. Hiding costs nothing to switch on. Paying for months you spend hidden is another matter.
Use a break to rebuild your photos and bio
Time off the app is when to fix your page, since no one sees the half-finished version.
Start with the photos, because they decide most of what happens. Your first photo should be you alone, with your face easy to see and decent light on it. The rest of the set should come from different days and different places, so it looks like a life rather than one afternoon. Cut anything blurry, anything where sunglasses hide your eyes, and anything where she has to guess which man is you.
Then read your bio as if a stranger wrote it. Does it tell her what an evening with you would be like? Is there one detail she could ask you about, a place you love or a thing you are oddly good at? a dating coach has found that a page with a little polarizing edge gets results, as long as the edge is subtle rather than obvious. Something she could disagree with gives her a reason to write.
If you can, show the set to an honest friend and ask which photo they would cut first. Whatever they name is usually the one to replace.
Fix one thing at a time, starting with whatever is weakest. It is usually the photo she sees first.
Coming back, or staying visible
When you switch Hide profile off, you are visible again, rebuilt page and all. Give the rebuilt page a week before you judge it. If women respond better to it, keep it. If they do not, move on to the next weakest part.
If you never needed a full break, Invisible mode lets you skip all of this and keep your profile working quietly. Just remember that not showing as Online is not the same as being hard to find. Anyone browsing can still come across you and write to you, so keep your page in the shape you would want a woman to see the first time she lands on it.
