She wants you to pursue her, but not to chase her. Pursuing means you show clear interest, ask her out and make the plan. Chasing means you keep asking, keep texting and keep paying for effort she is not returning. The signs she wants you are the ones where she meets you partway: she replies, she gives you openings, and she makes herself easy to reach. When those are missing, more effort will not fix it.
Pursue once, clearly
coach has a useful way to think about this. Women often cannot say "I like you, let's go out" without feeling it costs them, so they show interest in smaller ways and wait for a man to act on it. Men miss those signals constantly.
So the first move is yours. If you want her, you let her know and you ask for a specific plan. That is not chasing. That is the normal job of the man in the situation, and a woman who likes you is usually relieved when you do it.
Chasing starts after that, when you are doing all the reaching and she is doing none.
Signs she wants you to go after her
Read these as a group, not one at a time.
- She hovers. She stays near you at a party, finds reasons to stand in your area, or keeps the conversation going when it has nothing left to say.
- She starts conversations. She asks you something small, like what to drink or where to go next. That is often just an opening she hopes you will take.
- She leans in and touches. She moves closer to hear you, touches your arm when she laughs, or turns her body toward you.
- She qualifies herself. She adds a detail to look better in your eyes, such as "I did finish college, by the way." Effort to impress is effort.
- She keeps the conversation alive. When you text, she answers with something you can reply to, not one word.
- She brings up a next time. "We should go there" or "you have to try this" is her leaving a door open for you to walk through.
If you see several of these, she is waiting for you to ask rather than testing your patience.
Signs she does not want to be chased
The opposite set is just as clear, and it is kinder to spot it early.
- She answers in a few words and asks you nothing back.
- She does not suggest a time, and she says "maybe" to yours.
- She cancels, and does not offer another day.
- Her body stays turned away, and she keeps her distance.
- She goes quiet for days and comes back with no explanation.
One of these on a bad week means little. All of them over several weeks means no. Another message will not change that, and it will make you look like a man who cannot take an answer.
The difference between interest and neediness
Chasing usually has a feeling attached: you are working to win her approval, and her mood decides yours. A man in that state texts too often, over-explains, and reads every pause as a verdict.
Pursuing feels different. You are interested, you act on it, and you can walk away if it does not come back to you. That calm is attractive in itself. A woman can tell the difference between a man who wants her and a man who needs her to say yes so he can feel okay.
What to do if you are not sure
When the signals are mixed, simplify. Make one clear invitation with a day and a place. "I would like to take you for a drink on Thursday. Are you free?" gives her something easy to say yes or no to.
Then watch what she does with it. A yes with a time is a real answer. "Maybe" means probably not. A counter-offer for another day means yes with a schedule problem, so take it.
When to stop
Stopping is not losing, because it is how you save your attention for women who answer you.
If you have asked once or twice and the response stays cold, say something warm and leave it. "No problem, I enjoyed meeting you." Then do not message again. If she does like you, she knows where to find you. If she does not, you have lost nothing but a few hours you would have spent on someone who was not coming.
Interest and respect together is the whole answer. Show her you want her, make the plan, then let her meet you or not.
