Possibly a little, and briefly, but nobody has shown that flirting raises testosterone for good, so do not use it as a treatment. A few small studies have looked at short changes in men's hormones after talking with a woman, and the results are modest and short-lived. If you think your testosterone is low, see a doctor. What flirting does reliably give you is energy, practice and confidence, which matter on their own.
The short version of the evidence
Some small studies have looked at what happens to a man's hormone levels right after a brief chat with a woman. The effects they report are small and do not last. Nothing in them shows that flirting, or approaching women, builds up testosterone over months.
That is why the honest answer is "maybe a little, for a while." Anyone selling it as a testosterone hack is going further than the research does.
What you really feel when you flirt
Many men say they feel switched on after talking to a woman they like. That feeling is real. It is not the same as a lab number.
When you flirt, you are excited, a bit nervous, paying close attention and getting a little validation. Your heart rate goes up. You stand taller and speak with more energy. That adds up to feeling more alive, and it can lift your mood for the rest of the day.
Forum posts, Reddit included, are full of men describing exactly that. It is a good reason to go out and talk to people. It is a weak reason to claim a hormone change.
Does it work the same way for women?
The same caution applies. Hormones in women also move around from day to day for many reasons, and there is no solid basis for saying flirting reliably raises testosterone in women either. It is not a reason to flirt, and it is not something to look for in her.
Flirt because you like her and want to know her. If it feels good, that is a bonus.
What actually helps testosterone, naturally
If you are tired, flat and uninterested in dating, hormones may be part of it, and so may sleep, stress, drinking and mood. a dating coach, talking about desire, mentions that working out helps. The basics that most doctors agree on are:
- Enough sleep, most nights
- Lifting weights or other hard training
- Eating enough, and not crash dieting
- Cutting back on heavy drinking
- Managing stress, and getting help for low mood
None of these is dramatic. They do stack up.
When to see a doctor
Low energy, low sex drive, weak erections, poor sleep and a flat mood can come from low testosterone. They can also come from many other things. Do not diagnose yourself from a video or a list.
A blood test and a conversation with a doctor tell you far more than guessing. If it turns out your levels are low, treatment is a medical decision, not a flirting plan.
What flirting is good for
Skip the hormone angle and look at what flirting does for you:
- Practice. The more you talk to women you like, the less strange it feels.
- Confidence. Each easy chat teaches your nerves that nothing terrible happens.
- Energy and mood. Getting out of your head and into a real conversation lifts you.
- Information. You learn quickly what women respond to, and what they do not.
Those benefits are real, and they do not need a study behind them.
Why a "boost" is the wrong thing to chase
Some men start to treat every conversation with a woman as a way to top up. That makes the talk about you, not her, and she can tell. It also sets you up for a letdown on the days it does not feel like anything.
The better habit is to go out because you want to meet people, and to let any good feeling come as a side effect.
Do it for the right reason
Treat the women you talk to as people, not as a source of a boost. Flirting works when she is enjoying it too. Watch her face and her answers. If she is warm and playful, continue. If she goes quiet or steps back, say "nice to meet you" and move on.
A man who flirts with respect, sleeps well and trains hard will feel better, and he will be easier to like. That is a good enough payoff without a hormone chart.
