Mostly yes. Your matches live in the Matches tab, and you open a conversation from the list. Quiet ones may have moved to the Hidden section at the bottom of that tab. A match that is gone from both places means she unmatched you, deleted her account, or had her page removed, and Hinge cannot restore it.

Start in the Matches tab

Open Matches. Every active conversation sits in the list, and you tap one to open the chat. If the woman you are looking for is not near the top, scroll before you decide she is gone. An old, quiet match can sit well below the fold.

Check the Hidden section

Hinge hides matches that have gone without any activity for a stretch, and it does that automatically. The chat is not deleted. It moves to the Hidden section at the bottom of the Matches tab.

To bring one back, open the Hidden section, tap the chat, tap the three dots and tap Unhide. Hinge says you can unhide a match at any time.

You can also hide a chat yourself. If you did that once and forgot, this is where it went.

When a match is gone completely

Hinge gives three reasons a match disappears from the list. The woman unmatched you. She deleted her Hinge account. Or her page was removed because it broke Hinge's Terms of Use.

None of those can be repaired from your side. Hinge says an unmatch is permanent and that it cannot restore a match on its end. So there is no request to send to support and no setting to flip.

You also cannot tell which of the three happened. Do not spend an evening trying to guess. A woman who unmatches is making a decision, and the only useful response is to open your next conversation.

If every match vanished after an update

A different problem is all your matches looking gone at once. Hinge says this may be a temporary sync delay after an update. It suggests checking your connection, logging out and back in, or restarting your device.

Try those three in that order before you worry. It is almost always a loading problem, not a loss.

What to do with an old match you find

Finding a quiet match raises a question: do you write to her?

If you liked her and the conversation simply faded, one light message is fine. Pick up a detail from what the two of you were talking about, or from her page, and keep it short. a dating coach's texting rules say a message with no deadline and nothing to prove can simply wait, and that a second text later is often a good strategy. It is normal, not needy.

Make it easy to answer. A question she can respond to in one line works better than a paragraph about why you went quiet. Something like "Still wondering whether you ever found the best taco place in the city" works, because it points at something she actually wrote and asks for one line back.

Do not apologize for the silence or explain it. A woman who liked talking to you is not keeping score of the days. If the reply comes, suggest a specific plan within a few messages instead of restarting a long chat.

If she does not reply, leave it. One message is a fair try. A second message a week later is not a plan.

Do not build a graveyard

A long list of old matches feels like progress. It is not. My point about messaging on the apps is that men chat for days or weeks, never get her number or make plans, and eventually her account goes inactive.

So use the Matches tab as a working list, not a collection. Reply where it is your turn. Suggest a plan where the conversation has some life. Let the rest go quiet.

If you want to keep one eye on the future, that is what Hidden is for. A match you are not ready to talk to can sit there without cluttering the list you work from.

If you find yourself scrolling the list out of habit, set a rule. Once a week, open Matches, reply where it is your turn, and let anything older than you can honestly remember go. A short list you actually use beats a long one you only look at.

The short answer

You can see previous matches on Hinge in the Matches tab and in the Hidden section below it, where Unhide brings a chat back. A match that is gone from both was unmatched, deleted or removed, and Hinge cannot restore it.

If an old match is worth a message, send one short line that is easy to answer. Then spend your time on the conversations that are alive.
