Not in chats, in practice. Feeld, a dating app, has screenshot protection built into conversations. It is on for every member and cannot be turned off. On Android it blocks screenshots and screen recordings of chats, and on iOS it hides images in them. Feeld's help page describes the protection only, and says nothing about an alert sent to the other member.

What it does on Android

On Android, screenshot protection blocks screenshots and screen recordings of chats. If you try, you get an error message or a black image.

So if you were hoping to save a conversation, you cannot. The text is on the screen, and the phone will not let you capture it.

What it does on iOS

On iOS, a screenshot or screen recording of a chat is still possible. The difference is that images in the chat are hidden in it, while the text messages show.

That is a smaller wall than on Android. The protection is aimed at the thing that causes harm, which is intimate images.

What it does not cover

Two limits matter. The protection does not cover short videos sent in chats. And it cannot protect anything once a conversation moves to another app.

The second limit is the one men forget. If you move to a messaging app, Feeld is no longer in charge, and whatever you send there can be saved, forwarded or screenshotted by anyone. Think before you send anything you would not want shown around.

Does Feeld tell the other person

Feeld's help page describes screenshot protection only. It does not describe any alert sent to the other member when someone takes a screenshot.

Read that carefully. It means the page says nothing either way, not that you can assume no alert exists. Do not plan around a guess. If you would be embarrassed for her to know, do not do it.

Why Feeld built it

Feeld says it built the protection so that intimate images do not get shared or used for blackmail. That reason is worth taking seriously, because it describes a real harm that dating apps produce.

For a man, it works in both directions. It protects you if you send a photo that you later regret, and it limits what other members can do with anything you send.

What to do if you need to report someone

Members can no longer attach chat screenshots to a report. Feeld says to describe the interaction to Support instead.

Be specific. Say what was sent, roughly when, and what the person did. A clear description is more use than a vague complaint, and it keeps you from needing the screenshot at all.

Good habits for a man on Feeld

Treat every chat as something that could be seen. Do not send explicit images early, and do not send them to someone you have not met. Trust builds over several conversations, and a man who rushes it gives other people something to use.

If you want to remember a plan, write it down yourself. If you want to share a message with a friend, describe it. Do not try to get around the protection with a second phone or any other workaround, because the rules exist to protect members, and breaking the app's rules can end your account.

The short version

Feeld screenshot protection is on for everyone and cannot be turned off. It blocks chat screenshots on Android, hides chat images on iOS, and does not cover short videos or other apps. Nothing in Feeld's help page describes an alert. Act as though everything you send could travel, and send accordingly.
