No. Hinge's help center describes removing matches one at a time and lists no clear-all control. You can unmatch a person, which ends that match for good, or hide a chat, which moves it out of your way without ending anything. If you want a fresh start, you build it one chat at a time.

The two tools you do have

Unmatching is the permanent one. Open the conversation, tap the three dots in the top right, choose a reason and tap Unmatch. You can also swipe a chat to the left in the Matches tab and choose Unmatch there. The conversation disappears, you cannot message that person again, and Hinge cannot restore the match.

Hide is the gentle one. It moves a chat to a Hidden section at the bottom of your Matches tab without unmatching. The match is still alive, so a hidden woman who messages you reappears at the top of your list.

Hinge also hides things for you. Matches with no activity for a stretch of time are hidden automatically. A list that looks too long today is partly a list of chats that have not yet gone quiet for long enough.

Why men want to clear everything

The wish usually comes from one of two places.

The first is a crowded list. After a few months of casual use you have forty chats, and most of them died after two lines. The women you actually want to talk to are buried among them. Scrolling past forty dead chats every day is a small tax that makes you less likely to answer the live ones.

The second is a bad stretch. You feel done with the app, and wiping the slate feels like a reset. That impulse is understandable, but a clear-out only helps if it removes the right chats.

What clearing everything would cost you

A clear-all would be a blunt tool. Unmatching is permanent, so the one conversation worth keeping would go along with the thirty you do not care about.

That is one reason one at a time works better in practice. The unmatches you make are decisions, and each one is a chat you looked at and judged finished. Hinge's design gives you no way to throw out the good with the dead.

How to sort the list quickly

Go through your Matches tab once and put each chat into one of three groups.

Alive means a woman who is replying and a conversation that is going somewhere. Leave these alone and give them your attention. Asleep means a chat that stalled but ended on a friendly note. Hide these if they clutter the list, since a hidden chat can still come back to you. Finished means a woman you are not interested in, or a chat that went flat with no spark on either side.

Keeping a woman on your list out of politeness costs you space and attention, and she never sees the favor. If you are not interested, the kind move and the efficient move are the same one.

Use Hide when you are unsure. Hide can be undone by the woman writing again. Unmatch cannot be undone by anyone.

Do not mistake a sync problem for a clear-out

If your whole list suddenly goes blank, you have not cleared anything. Hinge says that after an app update, matches can take a moment to re-sync, and logging out and back in refreshes them. Give it a little time before you decide anything has gone wrong.

That is also a reminder to look at the list before you act on it. A blank screen from a sync delay tempts men into drastic fixes for a problem that goes away by itself.

If you want a bigger reset

If what you really want is a fresh start, a tidy list is the lightest version of it. The heavier version is changing what women see, which means your photos and your prompt answers. A clean Matches tab with the same weak page just fills up with dead chats again.

A member of a dating coach's coaching community described a habit worth borrowing on his podcast. He keeps two set windows each day, one in the morning and one in the evening. In those windows he goes through Hinge and answers everyone. Outside those windows he leaves the app alone. A list you work in two short blocks stays short, because the dead chats get dealt with while you are already looking at them.

So do the cleaning and the fixing together. Clear out what is finished, hide what is asleep, and use the freed-up attention on the women who are still replying. The aim is a short list of real conversations that you can answer well and move toward a date, rather than a long list you can never keep up with.
