A Tinder Boost is worth it only if your page already earns likes and you will be on the app while it runs. A Boost shows you to far more people for a short stretch, but Tinder says plainly that it does not promise a match. It changes how many women see you. It does not change what they think when they do.
What a Boost sells
A Boost raises how often your profile is viewed during a short window. A Super Boost does the same on a bigger scale.
That is the whole product. Your photos, your bio and the way you open a chat all stay exactly as they were. So a Boost works as a multiplier on whatever your page already does.
a dating coach describes paid features on the apps the same way. They show you to more people and in better positions, so they help most when the page is strong. He also says that, in general, paying is probably worth it in most cases, as long as the price is not crazy. The word to hold on to is "multiplier".
The three conditions that make it worth it
A Boost pays off when all three of these are true.
Your page gets some likes on an ordinary evening. If it gets none, there is nothing to multiply.
You will be on the app for the whole window. Tinder's own instruction is to turn the Boost on and then start swiping. A woman who likes you during a Boost has the app open at that moment, so a quick reply starts a warm chat.
You have the energy to answer everyone who matches you. A Boost can fill your list in an hour. If you reply three days later, those women have moved on.
When it is not worth it
If you get almost nothing on a normal evening, a Boost shows the same page to more women and brings you more of nothing. It is an expensive way to find out the page needs work.
It is also a waste if you tap it and put the phone down. Plenty of men do this on a train or in a meeting and come back to find the window closed and nothing answered.
Spend an hour on your photos first. Put a clear, daylight shot of your face first, follow it with photos from different days and places, and make sure at least one shows you doing something you really do. Then think about Boosts.
Timing it well
a dating coach's experience is that a Boost works best when you have not been shown to many people lately. If you boost over and over, the app has fewer fresh, active people to show you, and each Boost returns less. He also believes the app limits how many matches it hands you, so heavy use can be throttled.
So space them out. One Boost on a free evening after a few quiet days will usually beat three in a row. And do not press the button just to see what happens, because the clock starts the moment you tap.
How to measure what you got
You can find out whether a Boost was worth it with no guesswork.
Tinder marks any match you make during a Boost with a purple lightning bolt next to her name. After the Boost ends, scroll your list and count the bolts.
Then compare. Take a normal evening and note how many matches you got. Take a Boost evening and note the same. If the Boost evening is clearly better, the Boost is doing real work. If it is about the same, your page is the limit, and the money should go somewhere else.
Do this once or twice and you will have a number that belongs to you, which is worth more than any opinion online.
What to do with the extra matches
The Boost only fills your list. The date comes from what you do next.
Write a real first line to each woman, based on something in her photos or bio, not "hey". Then move toward a plan. coach teaches a short run of about four to seven texts that ends with agreed plans and a swapped number. A Boost that brings twenty matches you never talk to has bought you nothing.
Do not spend three weeks chatting. Women on the app are talking to other men at the same time, and the one who asks first usually gets the date.
A simple rule
Fix the page. Use a Boost when it is already working and you have a free evening. Count the bolts afterward.
If you are not sure whether the page is working, a coach can read it and tell you. That costs less than finding out one Boost at a time.
