A Bumble profile is not private. Bumble says the information you add can be seen and shared by other people, and your profile is shown to members whose preferences match yours and appears when others look through Discover. You can change or remove what is on it at any time, and you can hide it with Incognito Mode or Snooze Mode, but you cannot hide it from one particular person by name or phone number.
What other people can see
Everything you put on the profile is there to be read. That includes the details Bumble treats as special categories, such as ethnicity, religion, political views and what you are looking for, if you choose to add them.
Bumble also says other people can share what they see. A woman can show a friend, and a friend can pass it along. The right way to think about the page is as a small advertisement that strangers will read, not as a private diary.
Who gets shown your profile
It goes to people who match your preferences and helps others find you in Discover. In other words, the app decides who sees it from what each side asked for, and you do not choose the individual viewers.
That is why your settings matter. If you set a wide age range and a long distance, your profile goes in front of far more people than a narrow setup does. Make those choices on purpose, with the kind of woman you want to meet in mind.
What you can hide, and how
Bumble gives you three tools, and they do different things.
Incognito Mode, part of Bumble Premium and Premium+, hides your location and shows you only to people you have liked first. It is the strongest option if you want to look first and be seen second.
Snooze Mode hides your profile for a set stretch, or indefinitely, without deleting it. Your account stays, and nobody new sees you while it is on.
Deleting your account removes your profile from public view for good. It is the only choice that ends the whole thing, so it belongs at the end of the list.
What you cannot hide
Bumble says its block feature works inside the app, and that it is not possible to hide your profile from specific people using their name or phone number.
So a coworker, a neighbor or an ex who is on Bumble can come across you if your settings put you in front of her. If that worries you, Incognito or Snooze solves it. Blocking someone you have already seen is the only way to remove one named person.
Write the profile as if anyone could read it
Rather than hide, write something you would be fine with a coworker, your sister or her friends reading.
a dating coach reads a woman's page for one unusual detail to comment on, so assume the people reading yours are looking for something to comment on too. Give them a good first photo, which coach says should be the best photo of your face you can get, and a few honest lines that sound like you. Keep out your full name, your workplace, your address and anything about money.
A profile that is calm and specific has nothing to hide, and it is easier to write too. coach also points out that your first draft is never your best work. Rewrite it, test what gets replies, and keep improving it.
A quick audit before you leave it live
Open your own page as a stranger would. Read the first photo, then the first two lines, and ask whether you would be comfortable if your boss, a cousin or her best friend saw exactly that.
Check three things. The photos should show you and nobody who would mind being posted. The text should hold no surname, no street and no employer. And any detail you added under the special categories should be something you chose on purpose, since Bumble says you can update or remove it any time.
Do this once a month. A page you reread is one you keep sharp, and it catches the line that stopped being true.
If privacy is a real concern
If someone you do not want to meet is the worry, use Incognito or Snooze, and block her the moment she appears. If you simply want to look around without being seen by everyone, Incognito is built for that. For the rest of men, the page is meant to be seen, and a good one is how you get replies.
