In New York, you meet conservative women in the daytime city more than in its nightlife. Look to services and the weekly groups many congregations run for people in their twenties and thirties, and to volunteer projects and classes. A plain hello in person on a weekend afternoon works too. There are a great many of them in a city this size. They simply do not set the tone in the bars on a Saturday night, so a man who only goes out at night will think the whole city is liberal. Meeting women like this starts with changing when and where you look.

A liberal city with plenty of traditional women

New York is the most populous city in the country, and its reputation is progressive. Both are true, and neither tells you much about the woman in front of you. In a city of millions, even a minority is an enormous number of people.

a dating coach makes a point about New York that applies here: whatever you are into, the city has a club or an organization for it. That holds for faith, family and politics too. Women who go to services every week, women who want a traditional home, and women who vote to the right all live there, often in the same buildings as everyone else.

What changes is visibility. Their weeks are built around different places and different hours, and those are the places to go.

Finding out what she means by it

"Conservative" can mean three different women in New York. One is religious and dates with clear rules. Another is traditional about family but still goes out on a Friday. A third is mostly talking about politics.

You will not know which by looking, and you do not have to know before you say hello. Ask what she does on weekends, or what brought her to the event you are both at, and listen. The answer will tell you far more than the label does.

Weekends in the daytime city

For many traditional women, the weekend runs on a schedule: a service, then brunch or lunch with friends or family, then an afternoon outdoors. That puts them in parks, cafes and neighborhood restaurants in the early afternoon, not at a club at midnight.

A Sunday afternoon in a park is one of the best settings in the city for a relaxed hello. A woman sitting with a coffee and a book on a bench has stopped on purpose. Keep it short and friendly, talk about what is around you, and see whether she wants to keep going.

Groups that meet every week

New York's size works for you here. Many congregations in the city run groups for young professionals: dinners, study groups, service projects and social nights. If you share the faith, these are a natural place to meet women who share your values. If you do not, do not fake it. People can tell, and the people who notice are the ones whose opinion matters most.

Volunteer projects, from food drives to tutoring, bring out women who care about the same things you do. Working side by side for an afternoon says more about character than an hour of small talk in a loud room. Political clubs and campaigns are another route if politics is part of what you mean by conservative. Cooking, language and dance classes round it out.

The nightlife exception

Some conservative women do go out at night, just not to the loudest rooms. You are more likely to meet one at a quieter lounge, a dinner spot with a bar or a friend's party than at a club built around bottle service.

a dating coach also notes that a woman can act very differently depending on the man she is with. With a man who seems traditional and serious, she may show that side of herself. With a party guy, she may play along with the party. So do not write off every woman you meet in a bar, and do not assume the woman in the quiet dress is the one you think she is.

What she is checking for

New York makes it easy to date casually, and a dating coach describes a fairly open attitude toward dating around in the city. A traditional woman knows that, and she is screening for the man who is different. She wants to know whether you are serious, whether you are honest, and whether you will respect her pace.

Be clear about what you want once you know her a little. If you want something lasting, say so in plain words. If you want something casual, do not let her believe otherwise. Expect to meet her friends, and maybe her family, sooner than you would with other women, and treat that as a good sign.

Meeting women with a plain hello

Most of the places above give you a reason to talk. You still have to start. Cold Approach runs its Bootcamp in New York and Miami, with two four-hour blocks in the field each training day, daytime approaches and nightlife mixed to suit you. A coach watches each approach and tells you what to change, and a Private Bootcamp is 1-on-1, so your days can lean toward daytime settings if that is where you want to meet women.
