Wear clothes that fit you, that you can sweat in without looking wrecked, and shoes you can walk in for hours. In Miami that usually means lighter fabrics, a shirt cut well at the shoulders, and one outfit that works both in daylight and after dark.
The goal is not to look expensive. It is to look put together enough that you are not thinking about your clothes when you walk up to a woman.
Fit comes first
a dating coach's first rule of fashion is that fit matters. Good clothes that hang off you look bad, and clothes that are too tight show every imperfection.
If you are in good shape, a slimmer fit usually looks better. If you are not, a clean, straight fit is safer than anything snug. Look at the shoulder seams, the sleeve length and where the shirt ends. A shirt that ends halfway down your thighs, or sleeves that cover your hands, reads as sloppy at a glance.
A tailor can fix a shirt you already own for very little. That is a better use of money than a new brand.
Dress for the heat
Miami summers are hot and humid, and afternoon storms are common. Winters are short and warm.
That changes what works.
- Choose breathable fabrics. Cotton, linen and other light materials let air through. Heavy synthetics trap sweat.
- Be careful with light colors. Pale shirts can show sweat. A mid-tone or a darker shade hides it better.
- Bring a spare. If you will be out in the day and the night, a fresh shirt in a bag is worth the space.
- Think about the sun. Sunglasses are fine, but take them off when you start speaking. She should see your eyes.
None of this needs a big wardrobe. Two or three shirts that fit well will do.
Shoes you can walk in
Daygame means walking. Lincoln Road is a pedestrian mall and much of South Beach is covered on foot, and a Bootcamp day is two four-hour blocks.
Pick clean, comfortable shoes that look decent. Broken-in sneakers in good condition are fine in the day. For the night, a clean pair of leather sneakers or casual shoes works. Leave the new, stiff shoes at home. Blisters will end your day faster than any rejection.
One outfit for day and night
Because daygame and nightgame are both part of a Bootcamp, it helps to have one base outfit that moves between them.
A shirt that fits, dark or mid-tone trousers or good shorts if the venue allows, and clean shoes. For the evening you can add a light jacket or switch the shirt. Dressing well also helps you get into places. a dating program points out that a man who looks like he is ready to spend money gets in more easily than one who looks scruffy, and it improves how women see you.
Venues set their own expectations, so check before you go. We do not publish them, and they change.
Grooming does more than the clothes
a dating coach points to the same things in his examples of men who look good. Their hair is styled a little, their facial hair is trimmed on purpose, and they look cared for.
Get a haircut before you go. Trim your beard or shave it clean. Check your nails and your teeth. Use a little deodorant and a light scent, not a lot.
What not to worry about
You do not need a designer label or loud prints. Loud logos draw the eye away from your face, and women are not grading your brand.
You also do not need to look like a model. a dating coach says looks matter, but he adds that this is about your look, the way you have put yourself together, not your genetic symmetry. Good grooming and good fit do most of the work.
What a coach tells you in the field
Your own outfit is easy to misjudge. A coach on a Cold Approach Bootcamp can tell you what is working and what is not while you are out, along with feedback after every set. Bootcamps run in Miami and New York, with Group at three students to a coach over three days and Private one-on-one.
