Being nice is not the same as being attractive
Many men work hard to seem safe. They agree with everything she says. They ask ten questions. They laugh at every joke. They avoid any sign that they want her.
She may enjoy the talk. She may call you sweet. She may even text you first once. But she still may not see you as a man she wants to kiss.
Look at what happens in the first few minutes. You ask, “What do you do?” She answers. You ask, “Where are you from?” She answers again. You keep asking because you hope one more question will make her feel something.
It usually does not.
She needs to see your point of view too. Say what you think. Tell a short story. Give her a light tease when the moment fits.
For example, if she says she loves horror movies, you might say, “You look too calm for someone who watches people get chased through dark houses.”
That line gives her something to play with. She can defend her taste, tease you back, or tell you why she likes those films. You have also shown that you can speak like a man with his own thoughts.
Do not act rude. Do not insult her body, job, or clothes. You are adding a little edge, not trying to hurt her.
Show interest before the moment passes
A lot of men wait for perfect proof that she likes them. They want her to stare at them, touch their arm, and ask for their number first.
That proof may never come. Some women are shy. Some are polite. Some want to see if you have enough nerve to make your interest clear.
You do not need a long speech. You can say, “You have a fun look in your eyes. I wanted to come say hi.”
Then stay calm. Let her answer.
If she smiles and turns toward you, keep talking. If she gives short answers while looking around the room, say, “You seem busy, so I’ll let you get back to your night.” Then leave.
You are not trying to force a result. You are showing that you can take a small risk and handle either answer.
Interest also needs a little space. If she tells you she likes live music, do not spend twenty minutes listing every band you know. Say, “You should come with me to a show sometime. You’d have fun.”
If she asks when, suggest a plan. If she only says, “Yeah, maybe,” keep your answer simple: “Sure. Send me your number and we’ll pick a night.”
Clear words beat a long speech.
Move from talking to meeting
A woman can have a good talk with you and still forget you by the time she gets home. The fix is simple. Give the talk a place to go.
When the conversation has lasted a few minutes and she seems engaged, ask for her number. Do not wait until she walks away.
Say, “I’ve enjoyed talking with you. Give me your number. We’ll grab a drink.”
That works better than, “Can I maybe get your number if you’re comfortable with that?” The second line sounds like you expect her to reject you. The first line tells her what you want without begging.
Then send one short text. Bring back something from your talk.
If she told you that she makes bad choices at karaoke, send, “I’m still deciding if I trust you with the microphone.”
Do not send five messages in a row. Do not ask, “Did I do something wrong?” when she takes time to answer. Do not turn texting into a job interview.
Your goal is to set a time and place. Try, “I’m free Thursday evening. Meet me at the wine bar near the park at seven.”
A real plan gives her something she can accept or change. “We should hang out sometime” gives her nothing to answer.
If she says she is busy, watch what she does next. A woman who wants to meet will often offer another time. If she gives no other option, stop pushing. You have your answer.
Bring desire into the date
Some men get a woman to dinner and then act like her brother. They sit across from her, ask about work, and keep their hands to themselves for two hours. They hope attraction will appear by itself.
You need to create a man and woman setting, not a job interview.
Sit beside her when the place allows it. Look at her when she speaks. Hold eye contact for a second longer than you would with a coworker. Smile when you tease her. Speak in a warm voice instead of rushing through each line.
If she tells you a funny story, say, “You’re trouble. I can tell.”
If she holds your gaze and smiles, touch her arm for a moment while you laugh. Then remove your hand. You are giving her room to show if she likes the contact.
Pay attention to her actions. If she leans closer, asks personal questions, touches you back, or keeps the talk going, you can be more direct. Say, “I want to kiss you.”
Then lean in slowly enough for her to meet you. If she moves back or turns away, stop at once and carry on without making a scene.
Being direct does not mean rushing. It means you stop hiding behind polite talk.
Choose the man you want to be
Getting liked is easy when you edit every word to keep a woman pleased. You nod, agree, and hide your desire. You may avoid rejection, but you also hide the parts of you that create desire.
A better man has a view. He can say no. He can flirt without turning the talk crude. He can ask for the date. He can leave when the answer is no.
One of our students used to talk with women for an hour without asking them out. He thought more talk would make him safer. We had him ask within ten minutes when the woman showed interest. His talks got shorter. His dates became real.
You do not need every woman to like you. You need to let the right woman see you clearly.
