Make it hard to get to, give yourself something better to do at the times you usually watch, and treat a slip as information instead of proof you failed. Willpower alone rarely holds, because the urge shows up when you are tired, bored or lonely. A plan that changes your setup and your evenings holds far better. If you cannot cut back even though you want to, see a therapist who works with compulsive behavior, since that is a health matter and not a dating tip.
Start with your reason
Quitting for a vague idea like "it is bad" lasts about a week. Write down what you actually want in plain words. Maybe you want to feel desire for a real woman, to stop feeling flat around the women you meet, or to put the hour you spend every night into something that moves your life.
a dating coach points out that most men have a natural level of drive. Some men raise their desire by cutting porn out, and some find it changes little. Test it on yourself. Whatever you find, keep the reason that matters to you written where you will see it.
Remove the easy path
Every extra step between you and the screen makes the urge more likely to pass.
- Delete saved links, accounts and downloaded folders.
- Put a blocker on your phone and computer, and give a friend the password.
- Charge your phone outside the bedroom, because late night in bed is when most men slide.
- Move your laptop to a room where you sit upright.
Do this on a calm day, not in the middle of an urge.
Find your triggers
Spend a week noting when you watch. Many men find it follows a stressful day, a rejection, a long stretch alone or the last hour before bed. Once you know the trigger, you can attack it directly. If it is boredom at ten at night, schedule a gym session or a phone call with a friend at nine. If it follows a bad approach, plan something physical right afterward.
Replace it with something that moves you forward
The hole it leaves has to be filled with something. The most useful replacement for a man who wants women in his life is meeting them.
Go for a walk in a busy area and say hello to three people. Spend your Thursday evening approaching women. Exercise hard. Cook. Anything that uses the energy and leaves you feeling better about yourself is a good trade.
There is a practical benefit to this beyond willpower. Real attraction needs practice with actual women, and a man who is out approaching has less spare time and less need for a substitute.
Ride the urge
An urge usually peaks and fades within ten to twenty minutes if you do not act on it. When it rises, stand up. Drink water, walk outside or do twenty push-ups. Say to yourself, "That is an urge, and it will pass." Each time you wait it out, the habit weakens a little.
Plan for the slip
You will probably fail once or twice. What counts is the next hour. Men who treat one slip as a total collapse often spiral for days. Men who say "that happened, what set it off, what do I change" are back on track by dinner.
Keep a simple log of days without it, but do not make the count your whole identity. The goal is a life where it does not matter much, not a perfect streak.
Notice what changes
Pay attention to how you feel around women after a few weeks. Many men report that they are more curious about real people, more willing to talk and less numb. You do not have to take anyone's word for it. Watch your own experience.
Get help turning that into results
Quitting makes space, and then you have to use it. If approaching women is the part that scares you, that is what a Cold Approach Bootcamp is for. A coach goes into the field with you in Miami or New York, and you practice the exact thing that makes the old habit unnecessary.
