Wait until she has shown real interest in you, go one small step at a time, and let her set the pace. If she shuts you down, drop it and move on. Sexting works when she is joining in, and it turns creepy the moment you are doing something to her. If you are asking how to start, the same answer covers it: you do not start with a sexual message. You start by making the conversation playful and watching whether she plays back.
The sections below break that down, and then look at the bigger question of whether to sext at all.
Mistakes that make a man look creepy
A creepy message has one thing in common: it ignores her. It shows up without warning, it does not fit what you were just talking about, and it asks her to react to something she did not choose.
A sexual photo sent out of the blue is the worst version. It tells her you were not paying attention to how she feels, and it shows that you did not wait for any sign of interest. Some places treat unsolicited explicit images as a crime. Even where they do not, she is likely to block you.
Smaller versions are just as bad. A line like "I bet you look amazing naked" after three polite texts does the same thing at lower volume.
Check three things first
Before you send anything sexual, check that these are all true:
- She has shown interest. She texts first sometimes, asks you questions, and keeps the conversation going.
- The tone is already flirty. She jokes back, teases, and answers playfully. A woman who sends short, flat replies is not ready.
- You have met, or at least spoken. Women are far more comfortable with a man they have seen in person. Texting a stranger with sexual content is a bad bet.
If one of these is missing, stay at flirting. Flirting is fine and it builds interest, but it is not sexting.
Build in small steps, and know what to do when she goes quiet
Sexting goes well when each message is only a little more heated than the last, and each one gives her a clear chance to say yes or step back.
A good first step is a hint, not a statement. Say something that pulls on the tension you already have: "You're a problem. I keep losing track of what I was going to say." That is mild, it is about the two of you, and she can answer in kind or change the subject.
If she answers with heat of her own, you can raise it a notch. If she goes quiet or changes topic, drop it for now and go back to ordinary banter. Do not push twice. A man who accepts a soft no without sulking looks much more attractive than one who keeps probing.
Photos follow the same rule. If the two of you are already trading casual pictures of your day, a playful tease can come next. Wait for her to send hers first. Never send an explicit image without her clearly asking for it.
Match what she gives you
A useful rule is to never go further than she has. If she sends one line of suggestion, answer with one line. If she writes a paragraph, you can write more. Keep her at the front.
You can also vary the medium. Some women find a voice note or a quick call far more exciting than words on a screen. A low, warm voice carries interest that text cannot.
The risks nobody mentions
Anything you send can be saved, shared, or shown to her friends. Photos with your face are the biggest risk. Women also worry about the same thing, and that worry slows them down. If she hesitates, respect it. Pressure kills the mood faster than anything else.
There is also the legal side. Never sext anyone who might be a minor, and never keep going when she has said stop.
Is sexting worth it at all?
a dating coach argues that most men overuse sexting. His reasoning is practical. To sext, a woman needs some attraction, comfort and trust. Those are the same things she needs before she will meet you for a date. If you spend them on messages, you may not have enough left for the thing you actually want, which is a meeting in person.
There is a second cost. Sexting can raise her excitement while lowering her comfort. She starts to wonder whether you are only after one thing, and she may decide to make you wait longer before meeting. A bad attempt costs you more: it can drop her interest, and a refusal makes the date harder to ask for.
None of this means you can never do it. It means a date is usually the better use of her interest, and sexting works best once you have already met.
What to practice
Get comfortable talking to women face to face, where tone, eye contact and a smile do the work that emojis fail at. Men who can build attraction in person do not need to rely on sexual texts to create it.
That is a skill you can train. Approaching real women, getting a number, and turning the first text into a plan is what a coach drills in the field, and it makes the sexting question much smaller.
